Time to change your mattress
Most people tend to keep their mattress too long. Sleep specialists recommend to change a mattress after 5 – 10 years. As your mattress is in the bedroom covered under bed sheets, your guests never see it and you might think it is not as important as a sofa in the living room. Anyway, ‘it’s just for sleeping’.
Yet a good mattress matters a lot for your health: 7 to 9 hours per day is a lot of time. An old or sagging mattress can cause backaches, muscle stiffness, allergies and just simply a bad night's rest resulting in an unproductive day.
We lose about half a litre of perspiration per night
That's a lot of fluid being absorbed into your mattress over the years. At Heveya® Indonesia, we provide mattresses with removable and washable covers. This will help to extend the lifespan of your mattress. For conventional mattresses, you might consider changing after 5 – 10 years, depending on whether you perspire a lot or a little.
Every quality mattress will lose some of its height and hardness over time
This is inherent to comfortable and supportive materials. A hard object, like wood or concrete, doesn’t but foam or spring mattresses do. When you sleep on the same place of your mattress every day and over time, there will be a slight indentation or sagging in the middle, where your weight is relatively heavier. The easiest way to test this is to place a straight stick (like a broom stick) on top of the mattress. If you can put your whole palm underneath the stick in the middle without touching it, then it is time to change your mattress. This is because your spine will not be in the right position or proper alignment and your body willl not be able to recuperate properly during the night.
At Heveya®, we only use premium quality latex core that can be slept on both sides. This will help to extend the lifespan of your mattress. Moreover, of all materials used in making mattresses, latex core performs the best in terms of height and hardness retention. Take a look at our certificates.
